FIBA is the world governing body for basketball.  FIBA organizes and oversees international competitions that include the FIBA World Cup, the Olympics basketball tournament, and 3X3 basketball. 

 

FIBA is also responsible for establishing the official basketball rules as well as the regulations that govern the relationships between the different members of the basketball community.
