Ontario Basketball Association (OBA)

The Ontario Basketball Association, also known as the OBA, is the governing body for all of Ontario. As a member of Canada Basketball, which is the national governing body, the OBA is the largest provincial basketball organization in the country. Basketball Ontario offers each registered club the opportunity to register a team(s) at each age group from u10 to U19 to participate in Rep basketball which includes sanctioned tournaments, the OBL, and the end of season provincial tournament.

The Ontario Basketball League

The OBL, organized by Basketball Ontario, is an inclusive, age and ability appropriate provincial basketball league structure designed to provide meaningful competition for female athletes ages U10 to U19.  There are four divisions in which teams can compete: OBLX, AAA, AA and A.  Games are scheduled on weekends.  The fee to participate in the league is set by Basketball Ontario and is typically  incorporated into the annual team fee. Most Rep teams compete in the OBLs.

Provincial Championships and Ontario Cup

At the end of the basketball season, The Ontario Basketball Championships are held in communities across the province.  Teams are organized into divisions based on season results.   The top 8 seeded teams compete for the Provincial Championship, while all other teams are seeded and placed in a division by a ranking committee, and compete for the Ontario Cup. The Ontario Cup is awarded to the winner of each division.
