Ontario Summer Development Program

The OSDP, organized by Basketball Ontario, is a development program during off-season i.e. spring/summer months for U12 and U14 athletes who strive to grow their personal, social, and athletic skills. This program emphasizes teamwork, leadership, and learning.

Each region in Ontario is represented in the OSDP and hosts “open” tryouts in early spring. Click here to see which region you are in. From the “open” tryouts, 30 U12 athletes and 20 U14 athletes are selected. The selected athletes train for 30 hours as a group in a training pod. Training dates vary by region and are set by the coach. Certified coaches deliver programming that builds fundamental movement and basketball skills that align with the LTAD model. The training environment emphasizes learning and fun.

Tryouts are no charge. There is a fee to participate in the training sessions.
Basketball Ontario hosts a culminating event (i.e. tournament) for each age group. Ten to twelve athletes from each training pod will be selected to participate and given the opportunity to showcase the new skills they have learned in a round robin and championship tournament.
