Rep basketball is considered competitive basketball because rules of play are followed and enforced by referees, and the score for each game is recorded. However, the calibre of play will differ depending on the age and skill of the individual players and team overall. Each age group is separated into many divisions. The higher divisions (OBLX, D1, D2) are more “competitive”, while the lower divisions tend to lead to a more recreational level of play.

When playing Rep basketball, you will play on a team which represents an area/region/club. Each Rep team will participate in a league, tournaments, and/or a series of games which may/may not culminate in a season ending tournament/championship. Tryouts are usually scheduled in late August or early September. There is a fee to participate which is determined by the respective team. Fees will differ depending on the number of players on the team, the number of practices and games scheduled, along with uniform costs and other associated expenses. You don’t necessarily have to play for the team in your area, but it’s a great place to start. If you are interested in finding out about Rep tryouts, click here.
